Festive.
Superfood-packed.
Energizing.
Smooth.
Welcoming to toppings.
Quick.
Green.
Although there are a wide array of smoothie recipes on the blog, my offerings of smoothie bowls include Exhibit A and (finally) Exhibit B.
What is a smoothie bowl? Just what it seems to be: a bowl filled with a smoothie. So what makes a smoothie bowl different than a smoothie? The fact that it beckons any and all toppings you're willing to toss in its direction.
Sliced bananas?
Yep.
Chia seeds?
You betcha.
Coconut flakes?
Sprinkle 'em on.
Almond butter?
Don't mind if I do.
This particular smoothie bowl is handsomely-suited in a festive shade of green, making it the perfect breakfast to include in your March lineup. Despite a deep-rooted Irish heritage -- freckles and an aversion to sun included -- I think this is my very first shamrock-themed recipe.
To make up for lost time, this smoothie bowl is super green and packed with energizing ingredients. It's made by blending two frozen bananas, fresh kale, almond milk, ice, dates, almond butter, and wheatgrass (optional) together until smooth. After pouring this emerald-hued beauty into a bowl, you'll layer on the toppings. I like to keep this one fairly simple by adding sliced bananas, chia seeds, coconut flakes, and almond butter. Feel free to add more or less toppings and get creative. If you need a little inspiration, search #smoothiebowl in Instagram, and you'll either be wowed or overwhelmed by the results. Some of the creations are so artfully crafted it almost seems like a shame to eat them... almost.

This is definitely a new and improved version to celebrate St. Patty's Day verses corned beef and soda bread! You never cease to amaze me!

Aww, thank you! I'll keep that Irish soda bread though (a plant-based version, of course), and pair it alongside this smoothie bowl. Love that stuff!
