This bright mango, pineapple + basil smoothie is packed with ingredients that nourish the skin from the inside out!
Last Wednesday I posted a good-for-your-hair smoothie recipe and today I'm sharing this good-for-your-skin smoothie! It's like two mini makeovers that are deliciously edible.
This smoothie is incredibly creamy thanks to a banana and mango base. Fresh pineapple is then mixed in to provide balance and brightness, and a pinch of fresh basil adds a pop of fresh fabulousness. Side note: fabulousness is not officially a word, but maybe this smoothie is so amazingly refreshing and awesome that it deserves a brand new word.
So how and why is this smoothie so good for your skin?
Mango, like many other orange fruits and veggies, is packed with carotenoids. These lovely little pigments tuck themselves away just below your skin's surface and provide you with a beautiful *glow*. Mangoes also contain an abundance of Vitamin B6, which balances mood, controls stress, and enhances the communication between nerve cells.
Pineapple is full of Vitamin C, which is known for boosting collagen synthesis. Eating pineapple literally nourishes your skin from the inside out.
This isn't exactly ground-breaking information, but bananas are full of Potassium (I bet you knew that already). Potassium helps maintain electrolyte balance and keeps cells hydrated, which internally moisturizes our skin.
All of these glow-boosting, hydration-enhancing, collagen-synthesizing ingredients mixed up into one creamy, dreamy, and refreshing smoothie. Pure fabulousness.
